2011 Volunteer Service Awards

A combined total of twenty years of volunteer service has resulted in special recognition for three Nepean Museum volunteers. Marg Burbidge, Gavin Leishman and Bruce Campbell all received 2011 Ontario Volunteer Service Awards. The awards were presented by the Honourable Eric Hoskins, Ontario Minister of Citizenship and Immigration at Tudor Hall on June 10, 2011.
 
Marg Burbidge received the 10 Year Award for her dedicated work at the museum. Mrs. Burbidge has always been willing to help over the last 12 years, especially with programming and special events.
 
Gavin Leishman received the 5 year Award. Gavin served as President of the Nepean Museum Board of Trustees from 2007 until 2011. Prior to this, he served as Vice-President of the Board of Trustees. Mr. Leishman was always willing to assist with special events and projects.
 
Bruce Campbell also received the Five Year Award joined the Nepean Museum in 2007 as a trustee. Mr. Campbell has contributed to many projects including Nepean Museum’s annual Christmas parade float. Mr. Campbell has a long history of volunteering within the community.
 
Volunteers Coordinator Katie Graham states, “Nepean Museum appreciates the countless hours of work these individuals have done for the museum”. She acknowledges that many projects and events could not be successful without the contributions of volunteers.
