Visit Nepean Museum of Fairfields and learn more about Canadian folklore. Craft special characters and perform a  puppet show to teach others about a Canadian legend.

Completes two requirements of the 'Folklore' badge.

Find out more about special monuments and landmarks in Nepean. Learn about an amazing Canadian who has significantly contributed to Canadian culture. Create a story, song or poem about this featured Canadian. Discuss how Canada has changed in the past 25 years and how you think it will change in the next 25 years.

Completes three requirements of the 'Heritage' badge.

Adventures in Guiding - Provincial/Territorial Heritage

Share how the province of Ontario and the Nepean community got their names. Discuss Nepean's history and why you find it interesting. Tryout traditional chores and create a craft using the same methods as settlers.

Girls Creating - Creative Craft

Visit a museum to learn about the history of toys over the last 200 years. Create a craft that can be displayed in your house. Make one of three different crafts -jewellery, stuffed toy or a ‘displayable’ craft. The choice of craft will be decided ahead of time by the leader and museum staff.

Completes two requirements of the 'Creative Craft' badge.

Fun in the Outdoors - Gardening

Visit the museum and learn about the ‘square foot gardening’ technique. Design a unique garden and then plant seeds to take home. Discuss how soil can be enriched and identify what types of plants grow best in this soil.

Visit the museum and learn all about what life was like for early settler women. Try your hand at traditional chores and discover how things are different today. Draw a picture of what your mother and grandmother would have worn as young.

Visit the museum and learn all about Canadian symbols. Paint a special souvenir t-shirt. Create a poster celebrating the symbols of Ontario and play fun games to explore the images on Canadian currency.

Through interactive games and activities, learn about different modern Canadian inventors and their inventions. Make a miniature model to take home.

 Key to STEM - Exploring Space

Visit the museum and take a trip through space. Listen to a story about astronaut Roberta Bondar. Learn about the International Space Station, Canadarm, and discover the differences between a planetarium and an observatory. Design a space station and make masks while acting out a space story.

Completes all of the requirements of the 'Exploring Space' badge.

Visit Nepean Museum, a special place in the local community. Develop a group community project which will benefit both your group and the community. Play games to learn how to play safely in the neighbourhood.

Exploring and Experimenting

Visit Nepean Museum and learn about Nepean's most famous astronaut, Steve MacLean, and Canada's famous female astronaut, Roberta Bondar. Identify some of Canada's greatest inventions relating to space exploration, read a space story and create a special space sculpture to take home.                                                         
Completes three requirements of the 'Exploring and Experimenting' keeper.

Being Me

Visit the museum and celebrate women throughout history. Make a friendship bracelet to give to a special friend or  family member. As a group complete the 'Women’s History Challenge' by choosing a theme for your mural such as: winning the right to vote, women in sports, women in entertainment, or women in technology. Discuss some of the accomplishments of these women and design a mural based on this theme. 
 
Completes two requirements of the 'Being Me' keeper.

The World Around Me

Visit the museum and learn all about the world around us. Discover the stories of Nepean's early settlers, create crafts from other countries, and put on a special play.
